Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be wagered on in casinos around the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using an Internet account. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the greatest assemblage of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that skillful players are able to select the most profitable ones each and every time.
After the first round has completed, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Additionally, several versions of the game allow the player a chance to increase their winnings, in which situation another round is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
